Ethel L. Armstrong, 92 of Elida, Ohio died on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Born Saturday, March 29, 1919 in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Alma Olson Rydell.
On October 16, 1943 she married Martin C. Armstrong who passed away January 21, 1975.
She was formerly employed as a greeter at K-Mart and presently at Wal-Mart - Lima
Surviving are: daughters, Nancy (Ray) Strayer of Lima, OH and Cheryl Armstrong of Lima, OH: a brother, Ray Rydell of Denver, CO; three grandchildren- Cathie (Jim) Grothouse of Delphos, Mark (Renee) Smith of Elida, and Elaine (Mark) Davis of Harrod. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren: Ericka, Olivia, and Abigail Smith, and Andrew and Emilee Grothouse: one great-great grandchild Haylee Davis.
She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Hench.
A graveside funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 W. 73rd Ave., Merrillville, IN.
Rev. Richard Boshoven will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, 920 N. Cable Road, Lima, OH 45805. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
