Eugene W. "Gene" Corwin

Eugene W. “Gene” Corwin, 82, of Lima, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 9:42 AM at Shawnee Manor. He was born on April 7, 1936 in Lima Ohio to the late LaVant and Eleanor Corwin. On March 1, 1958 he married Joan K. Darling who passed on August 27, 2010.

Gene is survived by his children: Julie Sunderland, Gwen (Terry) Stump, Doug (Genean) Corwin, and Dan (Laura) Corwin, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Patricia (John) Azzarello, brother-in-law Herbert Darling, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son David W. Corwin, son-in-law Tom Sunderland, sister-in-laws Ann Darling and Virginia Reese, and his special beagles Max, Uncle, and Fritz.

Gene was a 1955 graduate from St. John’s High School. He had worked and retired from Dominion as a Maps and Records Technician, after 35 years. He loved animals. Gene was an avid sports fan and followed Notre Dame sports, the Detroit Tigers, Boston Celtics, and the Detroit Lions. He loved spending time with his family and pets.

His family will receive friends on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, OH.

A mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate.
