Evelyn I. Schmidt

Evelyn I. Schmidt, 89, died on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at her residence in Lima, Ohio.

Evelyn was born on Wednesday, November 05, 1924, in Lima to the late William Cook and Gertrude Cook.

On June 21, 1973, in Lima, Ohio, she married F. Vernon "Smitty" Schmidt. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2011.

Evelyn was retired from the Information Desk at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima and had previously worked in Central Processing. She loved her flowers and gardening and her Chiwawa, "Peppy".

She is survived by: a son Dennis (Keva) Schmidt, of Augusta, MI; a daughter Mary Bice (Tom) Coolidge of Elida, OH; a daughter Elaine Lewis, of Lima, OH; a son Robert "Bill" (Neila) Dick, of Munford, TN; a son Brian Dick, of Windhom, MN, a son Andrew (Elizabeth) Dick, of Cadwell, OH, a son Charles Dick, of Elida, OH; fifteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Kathy Coley.

She was preceded in death by: a son David Schmidt and a great grandson Jason Adkins.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 Am on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Salem Mennonite Church, Elida with Pastor David Elkins officiating.

Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Elida, Ohio.
