Evelyn Sweet

Evelyn Ruth Sweet, 83, died at 9:01 a.m. July 21, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born June 6, 1925, in Lima, Ohio to Howard C. and Hazel Neubrecht Shockey, who preceded her in death. On February 4, 1950, she married William E. Sweet, who died January 16, 2004. They had been married for 54 years. Mrs. Sweet retired from Randall Bearings after more than 21 years. She was a 63-year member of Trinity Chapter Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Social Order of Beauceant. She was a graduate of Lima South High School and attended DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana She enjoyed her family, attending grandchildren's sporting events for 30 years and needlework. Survivors include a daughter, Lynette (Dennis) Main, of Lima, Ohio; a son, Stephen G. (Pam) Sweet, of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Shawn Sweet, Joseph Sweet, Curtis (Meredith) Moore, Brooke (Mark) Featheringham and Joshua Swift; five great-grandchildren, Cole Moore, Cameron Moore, Pamela Sweet, Storm Featheringham and Ryker Featheringham; and a sister-in-law, Beryl Sweet, of Salinas, California She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Sweet. Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Eisenman will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Masonic Center.
