Everett T. Dahlke, 92, died at 6:25 a.m. May 13, 2010, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Services Community. He was born May 21, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio to Theodore L. and Genevieve Manzler Dahlke, who preceded him in death. On July 24, 1940, he married Vivian Eilene Hitchner, who died January 6, 2001. Mr. Dahlke had been a life member for 63 years of Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons, where he was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a graduate of West Tech High School, Cleveland. He moved to Lima in 1937. He had worked at A&P Grocery, in insurance sales and retired in 1980 from Lima Standard Oil Refinery, after 30 years. In the late 1930s, he started the Concord Club, which was a Christian social club, where he made many lifelong friends and met his wife of 60 years. He was a devoted family man, conscientious worker, dedicated Christian and faithful friend to many. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from May 1942 to February 1946, in campaigns in Italy and France. He was member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96. He was a charter member of the National World War II Memorial. He was a member of Lima Christian Science Church, where he was a First Reader and a member of the board of directors and the First Church of Christ Scientist, Boston. He helped with the building of the Cridersville Public Library. He enjoyed woodworking, music, drawing, traveling and gardening. He had been living at Elmcroft Assisted Living. Survivors include a daughter, Janice (Leroy) Reed, of Columbus Grove, Ohio; two sisters, Arline D. (Douglas L.) Daly and Dorothy M. Schafer, both of Lima, Ohio; two brothers, Donald (Betty) Dahlke and Theodore V. (Betty) Dahlke, both of Lima, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Angela Reed, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, and Alicia ?Nikki? (Troy) Willis, of Pickerington, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna J. Craig. Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Mike Dammeyer will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m., followed by a Scottish Rite Ring Service.
