Everett Lee Metzger,

93, died at 9:18 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima.

Everett was born on Thursday, December 25, 1924, to Lester and Nellie (Flory) Metzger.  On Sunday, September 14, 1952, in Silver Lake, Indiana, he married Opal Lucille Cook who survives him.

Everett went to school at Vaughnsville Schools.  He worked as a carpenter for various local companies.  He was a member of Ash Grove Old German Baptist Brethren Church near Elida, Ohio, where he had been Baptized July of 1951.

He is survived by his children, Donna (Wayne) Wray, Logansport, IN,  Lois (Terry) Jones, Elida, Phyllis (Larry) Locker, Lakeview, OH, Wayne (Melodie) Metzger, Mills River, NC, and Ruby (Randy) Hudson, Horse Shoe, NC; sister, Ruth Sandy, Gomer, OH,  sister-in-law, Ruth Metzger, Lima, OH, Sister-in-law - Ruth (Robert) Bowers, Silver Lake, IN, Sister-in-law Eileen Cook, Eldorado, OH; seventeen grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by: one great-grandchild; brothers,  Foster Metzger, Floyd Metzger and Glen Metzger; brothers-in-law,  Ed Sandy, Edward Cook, Marvin Cook and Arthur Cook; sisters-in-law,  Frances Cook, Patricia Cook, Eva Metzger and Mary Lou Metzger.

The family will receive friends from 2-5PM and 6-8PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 10AM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Ash Grove Old German Baptist Church in Elida, Ohio.  The home Brethren will officiate.  Interment will be in Ash Grove Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
