FANNY LOVE BELL, 97, died at 10:20 p.m. Aug. 9, 2006, at her son's residence in Lima. She was born Aug. 15, 1908, in the coal mining village of Newton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, to John and Hughina Urquhart Hill, who preceded her in death. In 1926, in Wilmerding, Pa., she married William "Scotty" Bell, who died in 1990. Mrs. Bell was a 62-year member of Market Street Presbyterian Church, where she was a faithful member and served as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and was in the choir. She had been a member of Shawnee Country Club, Lost Creek Country Club and Tamarac Golf Club. She and her husband, along with the Lima Golf Association, started the Lima Junior Golf Program in 1960 and remained associated with it for 17 years. She also shared her love of the game with her many great friends. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who knew her Bible and committed much of it to memory. Her home was a haven for everyone. Survivors include a daughter, Nina Clark of Sun City West, Ariz.; two sons, William D. (Joan) Bell and Dr. Ronald P. (Sue) Bell, both of Lima; a sister, Peggy Johnston of Orchard Park, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Jeanne Clark of Chico, Calif., Sue Ellen Clark of Gilbert, Ariz., Scott (Chris) Bell of Huron, Craig Bell of Bluffton, Kathy (Doug) Reed of Lima, Dr. Greg (Karen) Bell of Columbus, Anne (Jim) Brown of La Mesa, Calif., and Douglas (Heather) Bell of Lima; and 11 great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Gibson; and two brothers, Robert and Alexander Hill. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Market Street Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John Zuercher will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
