Fern Davis

FERN L. DAVIS, 86, died at 9:58 a.m. February 3, 2007, at her residence. She was born June 17, 1920, in Urbana, Ohio to Pearl and Betty Hamilton Bozman, who preceded her in death. In 1935, she married Richard Compton, who died after 11 years of marriage. In 1949, she married Ralph Davis, who died in 1992 after 43 years of marriage. Mrs. Davis retired as a cook for the Bellefontaine school system after 15 years. She was a member of Pentecostal Bethlehem Tabernacle, Lima, Ohio. She was a former member of the Methodist church in Bellefontaine. She was a member of the Women's Crystal Lodge No. 438. She loved golf, crocheting and her dog, Tucker. She was a loving Christian mother who loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include five daughters, Dixie Hahn and Betty (Guss) Holbrook, both of Lima, Ohio, Donna Overholser, of Sidney, Ohio, Gladys (Russ) Lawrence, of Lima, Ohio, and Judy (Marion) Bowers, of Elida, Ohio; four sisters of the family, Karen (Danny) Wireman and Bonnie Stauffer, both of Lima, Ohio, Doris (Tim) Stevenson, of Harrod, Ohio, and Tina Wireman, of Lima, Ohio; two sons, Jerry Compton and the Rev. Larry "Joe" (Lois) Compton, both of Lima, Ohio; one brother of the family, "Butch" (Phyllis) Compton, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Ann Compton, of Lima, Ohio; 36 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Gene "Buss" (Rosemary) Bozman, of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Compton Sr.; a brother of the family, Francis "Bill" Compton; and a brother, John Bozman. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Donnal will officiate. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Bethlehem Tabernacle, Lima.
