87, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died at 10:15 a.m. June 23, 2004, at Arizona Fountain Terrace Nursing Home. She was born June 17, 1917, in Corapolis, Pa., to Peter and Rosa Barretti DeMascio, who preceded her in death. On July 25, 1936, she married Tobias "Tobe" Cardone, who died September 9, 1997. They had been married for 61 years. Flora was surrounded by her loving family as she passed into the Lord's care following a long journey with Alzheimer's. She was in Fountain Hills, Arizona, where she has resided for the last eight years. She married Tobias Cardone in 1936, and they established their home in Lima, Ohio. In 1959, her husband established 20th Century Bowling Lanes and she became active in the business as well as in the Lima Women's Bowling Association. In addition, she was a member of UNICO National Auxiliary, but foremost, she was a wonderful mother and homemaker and a terrific grandmother. She will long be remembered as a loving, giving person with a very contagious laugh. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. Survivors include three loving sons, Joseph (Carmi) Cardone of Lima, Ohio and Fountain Hills, Arizona, Toby (Sue) Cardone of Toledo, Ohio and Robert (Pam) Cardone of Fountain Hills, Arizona; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert DeMascio of California. She was preceded in death by four brothers, one of whom was Judge Robert DeMascio, who had lived in Detroit, Michigan; and two sisters, one of whom was Helen (Stanley) Youngpeter, who had lived in Lima, Ohio. Services will be held Monday beginning with prayers are the funeral home at 9 a.m. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Cardone, her grandson, will officiate. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum.
