Florence Miller Crates

Florence Marie ?Flo? Miller Crates 77, died at 4:45 a.m. September 18, 2007, at her residence. She was born April 25, 1930, in Columbus Grove, Ohio to Paul David and Sarah Evelyn Best Miller, who preceded her in death. On September 9, 1951, she married Gerald R. ?Jerry? Crates, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Crates was a homemaker. Her life?s work was caring for her family. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary, surrounded by their loving family and friends. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Survivors also include a daughter, Judith L. (Donald) Chaffins; two sons, David R. (Carol L.) Crates and Michael J. (Kim A.) Crates; eight grandchildren, Jill K. (Glenn T.) First, Lori N. (Josh S.) Motzer, Kristopher M. (Nakoa L.) Crates, Todd N. (Jenny L.) Chaffins, Adam W. (Claire E.) Crates, David A. (Stephanie Sadler) Crates, Andrea L. (Joe A.) Correll and Amanda R. (Brandon P. Lanczak) Crates; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan R. Crates, Korbin M. Crates, Ellie E. First, Cody J. Crates, Jessica A. Crates, Taylor R. Crates, Landen R. Crates, Ava L. First and Evan J. Motzer; three sisters, Catherine (Norman) Case, Gloria Shulaw and Sally Roof; and her mother-in-law, Agnes Crates. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Sue Miller and Alice Burnett. Memorial services will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric McGlade will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
