Floyd Owen Metzger, 85, died at 9:45 p.m. April 12, 2009, at Lost Creek Care Center. He was born May 2, 1923, in Allen County to Lester and Nellie Flory Metzger, who preceded him in death. On January 15, 1944, he married Ruth Archer, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Metzger had been a truck driver for Standard Oil/BP. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors also include a son, Jed Metzger, of Lima, Ohio; a son-in-law, Ben (Shelly) Diepenbrock, of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dr. Ryan (Tina) Diepenbrock, of Sue Sun, California, Greg Diepenbrock and Emily Diepenbrock, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Marla Metzger and Jared Metzger; two great-grandchildren, Rylan Diepenbrock and Vance Diepenbrock; two brothers, Foster Metzger, of Vandalia, and Everett (Opal) Metzger, of Delphos, Ohio; a sister, Ruth (Ed) Sandy, of Lima, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Metzger Diepenbrock; an infant son, Jeff Metzger; and a brother, Glenn Metzger. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. David Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
