Frances Madeline Hall
91, of Elida, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at St. Rita's Hospice with her family by her side after a brief illness.
Frances was born in Lima, Ohio, Bath Township, on February 20, 1926, one of fifteen children of William Clinton and Olive Irene (Snyder) McNett. On December 24, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, E. Basil Hall, who passed away on March 27, 1998.
She is survived by three children, daughters, Lois Cook, of Elida, and Pamela (Tony) Lozano of Delphos; and son, Douglas (Lisa) Hall, of Conyers, GA; six grandchildren, Justin (Marisa) Kruse; Valerie (John) Kuenzli; Jonathan (Chelsey) Cook; Jessica (Jeff) Owensby; Megan (Zach) Crain; and Brittany (fiancé Cody Durden) Schmidt; nine great-grandchildren, Aidan, Cameron, Alayna and Tori Kruse; Madeline and Carter Kuenzli; Ansley Owensby; Jaylynn Mims and Carson Durden; and a great-grandchild on the way; and her sister, Barbara Carlock of Lima, and many nieces and nephews.
Frances graduated from Lafayette Jackson High School and promptly moved to San Antonio, Texas, while Basil was in the Army. She was previously employed at Mickey's Dry Cleaners in Elida and later served many years as head cashier in the cafeteria at Elida Local Schools followed by several years as ticket seller for the Elida High School Athletic office.
She is a long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elida, and a former member of the Elida Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was known for her Red Velvet Cakes. She spent many hours watching cooking shows on TV. She enjoyed bowling on a league with her sisters in her earlier years as well as square dancing, camping and taking cruises with her husband. She also enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially cheering on the Elida Bulldogs, The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and the Atlanta teams. But most of all she cherished her time with her family and they with her. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel so blessed to call her Grandma.
Along with her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her sisters, Lela McDorman, Glenna Landes, Julia Bucher, Helen Shepherd, Martha Cuesta, Dorothy Whitling, Betty McNett, and Maxine Downard and brothers, Ralph (Ted), Robert, John, James and Jerry McNett; son-in-law Gary Cook and daughter-in-law Terry Hall.
