Franklin Bing Baughman

April 13, 1933 — August 11, 2016

Franklin Bing Baughman was born in Lima, Ohio April 13, 1933, the son of the late Nevin and Lula May (Burnett) Baughman. He departed this life at 3:50 p.m. August 11, 2016.

He was a graduate of Central High School, attended Lima Branch Campus OSU and Owens Technical College, Findlay.

Frank served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was awarded a marksmanship medal.

He retired as Captain of Security from Lima State Hospital following 28 years of service. He also served as a special deputy for the Allen County Sheriff's Department for 25 years.

Bing was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and OSU Buckeyes.

Frank attended New Creation Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association-Johnnie Johnson Chapter #115; Marine Corps League 1063; VFW Post 1275; American Legion Post 96; Lima Lodge #205 Free and Accepted Masons; Allen County Scottish Rite Association, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason-Valley of Dayton; Past President of Lima Shrine Club and was presented a "driver of the month" award in 1998 by Antioch Shrine Road Runners for meritorious service for transporting children to their hospital. He was also a member of Master's Hi-12 #590; Trinity Chapter #16, OES and Allen County Chapter of PERI.


He is survived by his wife Ruth M. (Hill) Baughman; son Joe (Dr. Kimberly) Baughman, Maineville, OH; daughter Inga (Danny, deceased) Poe, Lima, OH; grandchildren: Nikiah McIver, Lima, OH; Britanya (Thomas Moore, fiancé) Poe, Gallaway, OH, Meghan (Matt) Braden, Hilliard, OH and Kyle (Emily) Baughman, Nashville, TN., great-grandchildren: Marcel Poe, Kyra McIver, Luke Braden, Ethan Braden and Caleb Braden and another on the way. Also bonus grandsons: Kyle Pickens, Billings MT, Zack (Caitlin Warren, fiancée) Pickens, Portland, OR and Chris Pickens, Maineville, OH.

He was preceded in death by a brother Nevin Baughman, a sister Bonnie (Rev. Joseph, deceased) Dotson and daughter-in-law Kathy Baughman.

A memorial service will be held a Chamberlain Huckeriede Funeral Home Saturday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Sam Payne and Rev. Dr. Steven Carr will officiate the service. Following the service, there will be a Masonic Service conducted by Lima Lodge #205; a Scottish Rite Ring service and military honors conducted by Korean War Veterans Association. The cremated remains will be interred at the Hill Cemetery, Belva, WV at a later date.
