Franklin Kohler, 85, passed away on June 5, 2022, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Franklin was born on August 4, 1936 in Wapakoneta to the late Leo and Margaret {Schneider} Kohler. On May 19, 1962, he married Ruth Zapp. She survives in Lima. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage.
Franklin served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He graduated from The Ohio State University and the Chicago Institute of Technology. He was an engineer for Ford Motor Company and retired in 2000. He was extremely driven and hardworking and always found a way to keep busy. He loved carpentry, history, and most of all, being a PaPa. He had the most beautiful blue eyes that drew Ruth in from the moment she met him.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Angela (John) Kohler-Schneider; grandchildren: Noah Schneider, Luke Schneider, Andrew (Katie) Diehm, and Sarah (Scott) Sutton; great-granddaughter, Sophia Sutton; sisters, Joan Jennings and Pauline Gerard; and brothers, Robert (LaDonna) Kohler and Ray (Susie) Kohler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alisa Diehm; brother, Carl (Carolyn) Kohler; and brothers-in-law, Robert Jennings and Bernard Gerard.
A Memorial Mass will be on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. Fr. Kent Kaufman will officiate.
