Fred B. Snyder, 84, died at 1:54 a.m. on July 14, 2010, at Triumph Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He was born on March 14, 1926, in Mendon, Ohio, to Victor and Cevella Bedell Snyder, who have preceded him in death. On June 23, 1946, he married Emma Dissard, of Paris, France, who died May 12, 1990. On November 30, 1990, he married Eleanor J. ?Ellie? Conaway, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Snyder had been a painter for T.D. Quinn Co. for 36 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, where he had served as quartermaster and post commander. He was also a life member of MOC Pup Tent 6, where he served as seam squirrel four times and commander of MOC District 1 twice. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe from November 22, 1945, to October 21, 1948. Survivors also include two sons, Marc (Debbie) Snyder, of North Carolina, and Philip (Jean) Snyder; four grandchildren, Niki (Mike) Lotz, Chad (Michelle) VanVorce, Melissa (Jay) Hile and Danille Snyder; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Madelyn Barna, of Louisville, Kentucky; three stepchildren, Patty (Dick) Moxley, of Delaware, Ohio, Tom (Marcia) Conaway, of Lima, Ohio and David Conaway, of Lima, Ohio; and seven step-grand-children. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane VanVorce. Services will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Chaplain Richard Coon will officiate. Entombment will be held at a later date in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Lima, Ohio. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
