FRED EMERSON TAYLOR, 72, died at 6:15 p.m. June 8, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1934, in Lima, Ohio, to Walter Harold and Lucy Hayden Taylor Sr., who preceded him in death. On May 2, 1969, he married Sharon R. Hogan, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Taylor worked for Ford Motor Co., for 23 years as an inspector. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict from December 1951 to December 1960. He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Spencerville, Ohio, the American Legion Post 96, Lima, and the Council for Aging. He loved to fish, work in the yard and he was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan. Survivors include two sons, Alan (Sandy) Taylor, and John Taylor, both of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, April (Curt) Betts, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Marlene (Russell) Garret, of Lima, Ohio; a half-sister, Ellen Hawk, of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren, David A. Dotson III, of Lima, Ohio, Justin Betts, of Bossier City, Louisiana, Kyler Betts, Cassie Betts, Jessica A. Patton, all of Lima, Ohio, Jeremy Taylor, of Kuwait, Jennifer Taylor, of Lima, Ohio, C.J. Betts, of Bossier City, Louisiana; a special nephew, John (Scarlet) Taylor, of Montross, Virginia; a host of nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Janet (Don) Coffey; and canine companions, Taz and Chip Taylor. He was preceded in death by a sister, Damalou Taylor; four brothers, Dale Taylor and Gene Taylor and twins Walter Jr. Taylor and Raymond Taylor; and a half-brother-in-law, Robert Hawk. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Doug Adams will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or South Side Christian Church, 3300 South Side Drive, Lima 45808.
