FRIEDEL E. EGNER KELLEY, 71, died at 1:25 p.m. March 22, 2005, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born February 21, 1934, in Schwetzingen, Germany, to Joseph and Marie Egner, who preceded her in death. On October 24, 1981, she married Harold E. Kelley, who died November 30, 1998. Mrs. Kelly retired in 1991 as a bridal consultant from Abrahams, after 35 years. She then worked at American Legion Post 96 for more than 12 years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199. She was a member of American Legion Post 96 Auxiliary, where she served as president twice. She was an avid bowler and loved cooking and playing cards. She was very proud of her American citizenship which she obtained in 1993. Survivors include three sons, William Thomas (Andrea) Slaughter of Belle Center, Ohio, Alfred D. (Melinda) Slaughter of Lima, Ohio and David (Joann) Dalka of Osteen, Florida; four daughters, Linda M. (Jerry) Vermillion and Patricia Ann (Ted) Hunt, both of Lima, Ohio, Robin J. (Greg) Lauck of Spencerville, Ohio and Janet R. (Steven) Bechtel of Belle Center, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Ruby Dawson of Lima, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Rosencrantz. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas E. Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where an American Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
