GARTH KENDALL EVANS, 73, died at 7:02 a.m. February 21, 2006, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. He was born August 17, 1932, in Lima, Ohio to Weldon and Gladys Pfaff Evans, who preceded him in death. On August 22, 1954, he married Phyllis Hoeper, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Evans retired in 1993, as a computer operator from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He was a member of First Evangelical and Reformed Church. He was a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 and a member of Lima Run and Jog Club. He received his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and an associate's degree from Lima Technical College. Survivors also include a daughter, Cynthia (Andrew) Ruckman of Oberlin; two sons, David Evans of Lima, Ohio and Michael (Barbara) Evans of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Gary L. Evans of Lima, Ohio; four grandchildren, Monica Evans, Lindsay Evans, Samuel Evans and Sarah Evans; two step grandchildren, Andrew Ruckman III and Eleanor Ruckman; a step great-grandchild, David Ruckman; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Dorothe Mosier of Lima, Ohio. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Ed Rinehart will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
