Gary Betz

Gary L. Betz, 62, died at 12:12 p.m. on July 19, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He was born July 9, 1948, in Sandusky, Ohio to Stanley and Bette Meyers Betz, who have preceded him in death. On February 14, 1981, he married Shirley Carraway, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Betz was self-employed as a finish carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, camping, off-roading and spending time with his family and friends. He was a 1966 graduate of Norwalk High School, Norwalk, Ohio, and attended Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio, and Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. Survivors also include a son, Matthew (Katie) Betz, of Naples, Florida; a sister, Patricia (Bob) Komarek, of Elida, Ohio; a nephew, Bruce (Missy) Komarek, of Delphos, Ohio; a niece, Kara (Alan) Klink, of Woodbury, Minnesota; his mother-in-law, Wilma Carraway, of Naples, Florida; an aunt, June Betz, of Sandusky, Ohio; and an uncle, Robert (Jo) Betz, of Mumford, New York. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Rufus Carraway; and paternal grandparents Stanley and Bernice Betz, Sr. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at his sister?s residence, 4681 Amaryllis Street, Elida, Ohio. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until time of services on Friday at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
