Gary T. Brinsfield, 66, of Waynesville, formerly of Lima, died September 17, 2008, at his residence. He was born February 20, 1942, in Lima, Ohio to Ray and June Garlock Brinsfield, who preceded him in death. He married Susan Pellegrini, who survives in Waynesville. Mr. Brinsfield worked in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department, in Washington, D.C., and as an assistant U.S. attorney in Columbus and in Dayton. He was a partner in E.S. Gallon & Associates and a partner with Couden, Pfarrer, Crew and Becker, in Dayton. He was a member of the Dayton Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He was a 1960 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, and Ohio Northern University Law School, Ada. He was an avid sportsman, and especially liked deer, elk and turkey hunting. Survivors also include a daughter, Bethany (Mike) Brinsfield-Hanes, of Waynesville; a son, Brett Brinsfield, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a step grandson, Roger Hanes, of Waynesville; a brother, Ronald R. Brinsfield, of Lima; a brotherin-law, Rick Pellegrini, of Lima; his mother-in-law, Lucille Pellegrini, of Lima, Ohio; four aunts, Helen (Raymond) Swallow, Betty (Douglas) Hadding and Martha (Junior) Kuhlman, all of Lima, Ohio, and Kate (Richard) Dilts, of Portsmouth; two uncles, Joe (Pat) Garlock, of Lima, Ohio, and Karl (Jeanette) Garlock, of Salter Path, N.C.; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Lenore Garlock and Ray and Evon Brinsfield Sr.; and his father-in-law, Ralph Pellegrini. Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Friends may call from noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
