Gary E. Igo, Sr., 66 of Lima, Ohio died at 11:21 AM on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at his residence.
Born Tuesday, October 15, 1946 in Middletown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Dale Layman and Mary (Marshall) Layman who survives in Lebanon, OH.
He was retired from Birckstrom /Appleton Paper.
He served in the Army from 1966 until 1969. He was in the 101st Army Airborne in Vietnam.
He was a plural member of Ft. Amanda Lodge 706, F&AM; and Lima Lodge #205 F&AM, White Shrine of Jerusalem; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason-Valley of Dayton. Past President of the 10th Masonic District Assoc., a member and Patron of the Amaranth, Antioch Shrine, Lima Shrine Club. He was a member of VFW Post #1275 Lima. He enjoyed visiting his grandson, fishing, being with his companion Linda Welker, sitting in the sun, and being a Mason. Gary never knew a stranger. He loved cook outs and singing Karaoke and Christian songs and always having fun.
Surviving are his companion Linda Welker, three sons, Gary Igo, Jr., Jonathon Howard Igo ,and Matthew Dwane Igo all of Dayton and a daughter, Mistina Lynn (Charles) Cox of Ft. Collins, CO., He also survived by a grandson Kenny Cox of Ft. Collins, CO, also a brother, Mark Eugene (Sharon) Davis of Virginia, five half-brothers; Stephen (Teresa) Shutts of Blanchester, OH, David (Teresa) Shutts of Cuba, OH,, James (Debbie) Shutts of Clarksville, OH, Michael (Sondra) Shutts of Leesburg, OH , Mark Layman of Cincinnati, OH , two half-sisters; Linda (Ralph) Mottashed of Lebanon, and Donna (Robert) Carter of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Robert W. and Margaret May Igo, and a half-sister Diane Cornett.
Interment will be in Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Following visitation there will be a Masonic Service conducted by Ft. Amanda Lodge 706, followed by a Masonic Rite Ring Service and a White Shrine Service .
