Gaylord C. Faze, 89, of Spring, Texas, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died March 10, 2008. He was born April 24, 1918, in Lima to Fred and Clara Belle Faze, who preceded him in death. On January 1, 1942, he married E. Lenore Risser, who died January 10, 2007. They had been married for 65 years. Mr. Faze retired from Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton/Clark Equipment. In 1957, he was appointed the first fire chief of the Bath Township Fire Department, a position he held until 1966. He was a 1936 graduate of Lima South High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from August 26, 1943, to November 11, 1945, with the Construction Battalion (Seabees) in Guam. His generous spirit is demonstrated by his contribution after death through Life Gift as a donor. He and his wife were involved with and adored their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were their greatest joy. His great-great-grandchildren kept him young at heart. A favorite spot of his was Casperson Beach, Venice, Fla., where he searched for fossilized sharks? teeth and archeological finds. He relished working in his workshop and creating new tools for his various projects. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He has now gone to his eternal rest in the arms of our Lord. Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Ken) Reese; two granddaughters, Kelly (Bill) Wood and Kendra (Raphael) Moraczewski; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Barbara (Jim) Wies; and three nephews, Ronald (Sally) White, Dennis White and Gaylord Accountius. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Leola Faze, Margaret Accountius and Idonna White; and a niece, Colonel Patricia Accountius. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. John Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where an American Legion service will be held at 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
