Gaylord L. Sneary, 79, died at 7:25 a.m. May 8, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born January 20, 1931, in Lima, Ohio to Lyle and Mable Staley Sneary, who preceded him in death. On November 11, 1950, he married Madeline M. Fowler, who survives in Lakeview, Ohio. Mr. Sneary retired from the Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant after 30 years, He was a member of Maysville Methodist Church. He served in the Army from February 1, 1951, to July 9, 1953. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9381, of Ada, Ohio, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3615, of Indian Lake, Ohio. Survivors also include three sons, Rick Sneary, of Bath Township, Steven Sneary, of Shepard, Texas, and Kenneth Sneary, of Columbus Grove, Ohio; two brothers, Bernard (Virginia) Sneary, of Lima, Ohio, and Russell (Diane) Sneary, of California; a sister, Imogene Bowers, of Lima, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Sneary; a daughter, Vicki Sneary; a brother, Raymond Sneary; and three sisters, Ethel Neu, Mildred Baughman and Doris James. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Emerson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Maysville Methodist Church.
