Genevieve Ruth (Fett) Graham,
Genevieve Ruth (Fett) Graham, 95, passed away peacefully at 9:52 AM on Friday, April 20, at her home at Lochhaven Assisted Living in Lima. She was born July 13, 1922, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Clair and Bertha Fett who preceded her in death. On October 20, 1945, she married the love of her life, Robert C. Graham, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage before he passed away in 2010.
Genny was a 1940 graduate of Bluffton High School, attended Bluffton College, and received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University in 1944, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She was employed at Eastman Kodak, Rochester, New York; University of Virginia Medical School, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Gro-Cord Rubber Co., Lima, Ohio. Genny left employment outside the home to be a full-time homemaker while raising four daughters. Beginning in 1973 she worked for the University of Chicago’s National Opinion Research Center as a research interviewer for twenty-nine years, retiring at the age of eighty.
Genny was a member of Lima Community Church of Nazarene from 1996 to present. Formerly she was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church for fifty years, where she was active in choir and the United Presbyterian Women. She also served on the Mission committee and taught Sunday School. In addition, she has served on the boards of the Y.W.C.A. and Child and Family Services and for several years was a volunteer at Mizpah Community Center. One of her greatest passions was tennis, and she was active in Allen County tennis tournaments for many years. She and her long-time friend, Lois Gleason, were in the finals of the Lima Area women’s doubles tournament ten consecutive years from 1964-1974. Genny enjoyed playing tennis until age eighty.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in law, Janet (Ken) VanderHoff of Cumming, Georgia; Nancy (David) Roush of Albion, Michigan; Barbara Quatman of Lima, Ohio; Mary (James) Caprella of Lima, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Bullock of Bluffton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Graham, her brother, James Fett, and son-in-law, Jon Quatman.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 6, 2-4 PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service following at 4PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Convalescent Home Foundation, 1650 Allentown Road, Lima, OH 45805, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
