George Carl Dalton, 73, died at 8:53 a.m. April 16, 2009, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born March 16, 1936, in Leamington, Ontario, to Milford and Pearl Rogers Dalton, who preceded him in death. On March 2, 1957, at First Lutheran Church, Kingsville, Ontario, he married Rosalie Welker, who survives in Lima. Mr. Dalton retired from Ford Motor Co., after 43 years. He was a member of South Side Christian Church, where he had served as board chair, treasurer, finance committee chair and deacon. He had been involved with several community service organizations and had served as president of the Lost Creek Country Club. He was a member of the development council at St. Rita?s Medical Center and had served as chairman of the board of the United Way. He was a graduate of the University of Windsor. He loved his church and the Lima community. Survivors also include three daughters, Ruth Anne Baron, of Toronto, Mary Ellen (David) Rodgers, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Carol Lynn (Aaron) Elam, of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Laura Baron, Joanna Baron and Philip Baron, all of Toronto, and David Rodgers and Daniel Rodgers, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a brother, Charles Dalton, of Windsor, Ontario; and a sister, Ruth Burgess, of Victoria, British Columbia. Services will begin at 5 p.m. today at South Side Christian Church. The Rev. Douglas Adams and Wanda Werking will officiate. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services today at the church.
