George D. Evers, 91 of Lima, died at 1:50 A.M., Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Born Sunday, August 7, 1921 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late John David Evers and the late Loretta Butler Evers. He married Margaret "Avis" Kaufman on April 7, 1946 and she passed away July 26. 2004.
He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. He retired as a truck driver after working 46 years for Mohawk Trucking and Central Transport. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are son, David Evers of Lima, a daughter, Rita J. (John) Thomas of Atlanta, GA, a brother, Cloyd "Hoot" (Frances) Evers of Upper Arlington, OH also surviving are two nieces Jan (David) Huckeriede of Lima, and Jane Ann Rudolph of Grandview, OH, two nephews: William Keller, Worthington, OH and John (Tammy) Evers of Mt. Sterling, OH, also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Gayle Eugene Evers, sister, Martha "Jane" Sybert. and a niece Diane "Jill" Keller.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Forest Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Benjamin officiating.
Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
