85 of Lima, Ohio died on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at 4:03 P.M. at his residence.
Born Thursday, January 20, 1927 in Stockville, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Ancel Herron and the late Dorothy (Maret) Herron. .
George married June Sanks on May 17, 1950 in Lexington, NB. She survives in Lima. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1947. He was an electrician with the IBEW #32. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1275-Lima, and enjoyed hunting, collecting ducks, cast iron skillets, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are: a son, Norman J. (Brenda) Herron of Stoutsville, OH; a brother, Ancel (Betty) Herron, Jr. of Fremont, IN; an adopted daughter, Barb Luttrell of Ludington, MI; five grandchildren, Norman J. (Becky) Herron,II of Circleville, OH; Nikki (Adam) Herron of Circleville, OH; Justin (Heather) Herron of Lima, OH; Dustin Herron of Lima, OH; Laura Herron of Lima, OH; two great grandchildren, Marissa Herron and Trevor Herron of Circleville, OH
He was predeceased by sons, George R. Herron, Jr. and William O. Herron; grandson, Jason S. Herron.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Randy Davis and Pastor Jerry Hall officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on September 20, 2012 at the Amanda Township Cemetery in Amanda, OH, followed by a military graveside service conducted by AmVets Post 2256 from Circleville, OH.
