Georgia Heltman

GEORGIA P. "JEAN" HELTMAN, 77, died at 10:25 a.m. September 21, 2005, at Plus Health Care Center. She was born March 8, 1928, in Harlan, Kentucky, to James H. and Mary B. Fancher Lay, who preceded her in death. On September 10, 1949, she married Burldean P. Heltman, who died February 2, 1981. Mrs. Heltman retired in March 1985, from Union Carbide Corp., Fremont, after 17 years. She had also worked as a night supervisor at Pilgrim Place Apartments, Lima, and in the greenhouse at DeHaven Home & Garden Center. She was a member of Siebert United Methodist Church, Bellevue. She was a 1946 graduate of Hall High School, Grays Knob, Kentucky. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. Survivors include a son, John (Karen) Heltman of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Mary Brewer of Louisville, Kentucky; a brother, Leland Lay of Huber Heights, Ohio; a grandson, Pfc. Glenn H. Heltman serving in Iraq; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday in Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue. Dr. David Clarke will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
