Georgia Purdy,
89, surrounded by family, was taken from her residence, to her heavenly home at 4:20 a.m., June 29, 2012.
She was born in 1923, in Paulding to George and LuLu Chloe Ashenfelter-Loar, who preceded her in death. On February 7, 1943, she married the love of her life, Clifford Purdy, who died in 2000, after 57 years of marriage.
Mrs. Purdy was a graduate of South High School in Lima, and then a homemaker. Georgia loved children. She was a foster parent to more than 20 kids. She enjoyed working on her yard and flowers. She also loved playing cards with friends and family, reading, and fishing with her husband. Mrs. Purdy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She will be missed dearly.
As a young child, Georgia accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and friend. Throughout her life she desired for all to know Him. She was a member of Forest Park UMC, where she taught Sunday school for years .
Survivors include one daughter, Paula (Richard) Rupert, of Elida; A brother, Darrel (Sandy) Loar, of Columbus; Four grandchildren, Beth Anne Rupert, of Lima, Darin (Katrina) Rupert, of Van Wert, Chris (Angela) Purdy, and Brian (Kaylene) Noel, both of Dallas, TX; Five great-grandchildren, Jesse Owsley, of Lima, Alexis Rupert, Ethan Rupert, and Sophia Rupert, all of Van Wert, and BeBe Purdy, of Dallas, TX; Three sisters-in-law Geraldine Loar, of Troy, Ruth Ann Loar, of Lima, and Betty Purdy, of North Hampton, England; Nieces and nephews include: Patricia (Jeff) Mack, Mark Loar, and Shirley Purdy, all of Lima.
Mrs. Purdy was preceded in death by a son, Michael C. Purdy; Sister Winona Downhour; A brother Deane Loar; Young siblings Dorothy, Ralph, Leonard, and Hebby; Sister-in-law Rosemary Golden; And brothers-in-law Donald Purdy and Walter Purdy.
Services will begin at 11:00 A.M. July 9, 2012 at Forest Park United Methodist Church in Lima. Pastors Tim Benjamin and Larry Hopkins will officiate with a celebration meal immediately following. A graveside dedication will follow at 2:00 P.M.
Friends may call Sunday July 8, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
