Gertrude Beall

GERTRUDE P. "GERTIE" BEALL, 93, died at 3:48 p.m. August 14, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1912, in Allen County, Ohio to John James and Grace A. Fagan Miller, who preceded her in death. On December 7, 1942, in Lima, Ohio, she married Robert L. Beall, who died October 24, 1995. Mrs. Beall was a homemaker and had worked in housekeeping at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Lima, where she was a member of it Altar Rosary Society and the choir, was a lay distributor, helped with funeral dinners and ran the religious article case. She was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul Store on South Main Street and a foster parent for several years through the Catholic Charities. She was an avid seamstress who donated more than 2,000 quilted lap robes for the sick and elderly or anyone who was in need. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Survivors include a daughter, Michelle A. Shields of Lima,Ohio; two sons, Patrick R. (Jacquie) Beall and Michael A. (Susan Reiman) Beall, both of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Genevieve Craft of Lima, Ohio and Rosemary (Del) Keysor of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Eugene Miller of Lima, Ohio; a granddaughter, Brittney A. (fianc?, Mike Moore) Shields of Wapakoneta, Ohio. A great-grandson is on the way. She was preceded in death by four brothers; and a sister, Mary Helen Kennedy. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Catholic Church, Lima. The Rev. William J. Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
