Gloria Sherer

Gloria J. Sherer, 96, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Otterbein Cridersville.  

Gloria was born on June 6, 1928, in Lima, Ohio to Wilbur and Ilo (Wallace) Williams. On August 14, 1948, she married Willis D. Sherer, who preceded her in death on February 21, 2018. 

Gloria was a wonderful mother and grandparent. She was as kind and loving as anyone could possibly be. In all of her years she never ran out of hugs or tissues for tears. She was talented in many respects. Among those talents was her ability to do minor home repair, sew and mend any fabric, produce incredible quilts, crochet and knit, work a paint roller, and cook. The flower beds around the house always gave testament to her talents as a gardener. In addition to Gloria’s other interests, she had a strong connection to the Lord and was a lifetime member of her church.  

She is survived by her children, Dee (Jean) Sherer, and Barb (David) Kienitz; grandchildren, Adrienne (Jeremy) Fifer, Ashley (Dave) Weichart. Austin (Lauren) Sherer, Steve (Katie) Marsh, Ken (Sara) Marsh, Jennifer (Chris) Brady, Josh (Ann) Kienitz, and Sarah (Daniel) Kienitz; and sixteen great grandchildren.  

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son Gary Lynn Sherer; and a sister, Mary Davis.  

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio, and 10 – 11 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at South Side Christian Church. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at South Side Christian Church. Rev. Todd Cosart will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Pike Run Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church.
