58, died at 10:35 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.
Greg was born on May 15, 1956, in Van Wert, Ohio, to the late George Sowers and Francile [Baumgartner] Sowers. On Saturday, August 17, 1985, he married Jenny A. (Gerstner) Sowers. She survives in Lima.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Shanda Cox, of Lima, Ohio along with her husband Dustin Cox and their three children Keagen, Kale, and Kiah. Greg is also survived by his two sisters Vickie (Doc) Stegamen and Kathy (Bill) Jenkins. Greg has two living brothers-in-law, Cole (Cheryl) Gerstner and John (Elaine) Gerstner. Greg is also survived by several nieces and one nephew from the Sower and Gerstner sides of his family.
After working at the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Greg worked at Lima Memorial Hospital for 23 years as a medical social worker. He held a Master in Social Work degree and loved to meet people's medical and emotional needs. Greg was a faithful member of Crossroads Church of God in Lima, Ohio for 30 years. Among his many positions, Greg served as the finance treasurer, a council member, and a building committee member.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Crossroads Church. The funeral service will begin immediately after at 4:00 PM. Pastor Gerbert Darlington will officiate.
