H. GUY LAWSON, 85, died at 2:25 p.m. March 19, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born March 9, 1922, in Lima to Guy and Anna Helmlinger Lawson, who preceded him in death. On October 11, 1947, he married Dorothy C. Avery, who died Nov. 7, 2006. Mr. Lawson and his wife had owned and operated Guy's Sinclair Station at Kibby and Union streets for 15 years. He had also worked at the Lima Ordnance Depot until its closing and as a mechanic for Pepsi and the Allen County Sanitary Engineers. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant with the 8th Air Force, 34th Bomb Group. He was passionate about the charities Mission in Haiti and Toys for Tots. Survivors include five children, Linda Hagerman, Sherry (John) Merricle, Barbara (Dave) Crawford, Michael (Linda) Lawson and Karen Sue Kettler, all of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Sandra (Jerry) Meeker, Angela (Michael) Mabie, Erin Hagerman, Stephanie (Tim) Wurst, Adam Kettler, Jonathan Lawson, Alexander Kettler and Amanda Lawson; five great-grandchildren, Kristina, Matthew, Savannah, Jenna and Sophie; and a sister, Gladys Conkle, of Harrod. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Lawson and Harold Lawson; two sisters, Cathern Greer and Ruthella Lawson; and a son-in-law, Ernie Hagerman. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Derek Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
