Harold Eugene Davenport,
76, of Elida, Ohio, died on Friday, September 21, 2012, at 2:04 PM at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Born Wednesday, January 15, 1936 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Davenport and the late Alice M. (Lewis) Davenport.
Harold married Sarah Lewis in 1968; she preceded him in death on January 18, 2001. He served 6 years in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Allen Co. Sherriff's Department after 36 years, having worked many years in the Canine Unit. He was a member of the Lima Community Church of the Nazarene and was raised in the Second Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 1275-Lima; the American Legion Post 96-Lima; and the Blue Knights.
Surviving are: a son, Michael Davenport of Columbus, OH; three daughters, Genny Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Tandeka Davenport of Elida, OH and Yvonne Batty of Lima, OH; four grandchildren, Erica Davenport, Michael Davenport, Tai Davenport and Desiree Davenport; three nieces and three nephews; a sister, Janice (Charles) Kile of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Davenport; a son, Victor Lewis and a grandson, Andre Keith.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Second Baptist Church located at 520 W. Spring St. Lima, Ohio 45801 with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, OH. with military graveside honors conducted by VFW Post 1275-Lima
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
