Harold R. ?Hal? Floyd, 78, died at 10:32 p.m. September 14, 2008, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born April 3, 1930, in Oakland City, Indiana, to Harold R. and Rose Jaynes Floyd Sr., who preceded him in death. On November 6, 1982, he married Violet Floyd, who survives in Findlay, Ohio. Mr. Floyd had been a supervisor of housekeeping at Butler University. He had been a board member of the Senior Citizen Center, a former member of the Lima Forestry Council and a volunteer for the Lima Council on Aging Day Care Center, all in Lima, Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion in Indianapolis. He was an Air Force veteran serving from September 23, 1950, to September 22, 1954. Survivors also include three sons, Harry (Barbara) Floyd, of Urbana, Harold (Barbara) Floyd III, of Springfield, and Hugh Floyd, of Findlay, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Carla (Bud) Brown, of Findlay, Ohio; five stepsons, Eric (Terri) Peterson, Steven Miller and Dan (Marlene) Miller, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, Matt (Eva) Miller, of Bend, Oregon, and Mark Miller, of Indianapolis, Indiana; a grandchild, Erin Floyd; 13 step grandchildren, Ames Brown IV, Carissa Brown, Stefanie Clum, Melissa Peterson, Ashley Peterson, Laura Miller, Christopher Miller, Angela Miller, Heather Miller, Carissa Miller, Lindsey Miller, Jason Miller and Justin Miller; and nine step great-grandchildren. Memorial services will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery.
