Harold J. Jennings 84, died at 1:20 a.m. March 12, 2010, in Vancrest Health Care Center. He was born November 21, 1925, in Lima, Ohio to Harold and Marie Armentrout Jennings, who preceded him in death. On April 28, 1945, he married Joanne Crider, who died September 10, 2003. Mr. Jennings worked at BP Chemicals for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and a life member of the Museum of Contemporary Art Puptent 6, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 54. He served in the Navy aboard the Battleship Pennsylvania during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 96, a member of the AMVETS Post 81, in North Fort Myers, Fla., Moose Lodge 1533, Indian Lake, and the Navy Club, Ship 9, Lima. He was a 50-plus member of Garrett Wykoff 585 Free & Accepted Masons and a 50-plus member of the Royal Arch Mason 49. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Survivors include a son, Greg (Teri) Jennings, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Jana Nartker, of Tallahassee, Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Cockin, of Kenton, Ohio, and Sharon Hennon, of Waynesfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, Todd (Meagan) Jennings, of Lima, Ohio, Matt (Marissa) Jennings, of Columbus, Ohio, Zak (Kristy) Moore, of Lima, Ohio, and Danielle Moore, of Lima, Ohio; and seven great grandchildren, Logan Jennings, Branden Davis, Garrett Jennings, Conner Jennings, Nevaeh Sheeter, Ava Sheeter and Alie Moore. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jennings. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Chaplain Richard Coon will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
