Harold L. "Ike" McLaughlin, 90, died at 10:30 a.m. June 23, 2008, at his residence. He was born December 7, 1917, in Foraker to Herman and Mary Collins McLaughlin, who preceded him in death. In 1967, in Wytheville, Virginia, he married Betty J. McLaughlin, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. McLaughlin had worked at Standard Oil. He was a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, the Lima Century Club, Tamarac Golf Club, the BP Quarter Century Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from July 11, 1941, to October 25, 1945. Survivors also include six sisters, Dorothy Myers, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Thelma Brown, of Lima, Ohio, Mary Isaacson, of Winder, Georgia, Betty Britt, of Lima, Ohio, and Barbara Goodwin, of Wapakoneta, Ohio; and a brother, Richard Strathearn, of Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Decker. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Tisch will officiate.
