Harold Eugene Wolff, 87, died at 7 a.m. July 16, 2008, at his residence. He was born May 31, 1921, in Harbor View (Toledo) to Clarence F. and Beatrice R. Stine Wolff, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 22, 1942, he married Mary Margaret Stonehill, who died Sept. 23, 2000. Mr. Wolff had been a plant supervisor at Northrup King Seed Co. He attended St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir. He was a member of the Monica Stevens Singers. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens, the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District and its Yarn Spinners and a 17-year member of the Lima Senior High School Boosters. He coached and refereed midget football for 12 years. He was a graduate of Lima South High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from Oct. 15, 1940, to Nov. 14, 1945. He had served with the 37th Infantry and the 94th Infantry. He also served with the 301st Artillery Battalion from August 1944 to Oct. 1944, in Scotland, England, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Wales, France and Czechoslovakia. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, four Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Survivors include a son, the Rev. Marc E. (Janet) Wolff, of Fairlawn; three daughters, Marcia E. Roeder, of Lima, M. Erika Wolff, of Las Vegas, N.M., and Manette E. Wolff, of Lima; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stonehill, Anna Zwiebel and Betty (Gene) Krick, all of Spencerville; five grandchildren, Brant (Beverly) Roeder, Steven (Carrie) Roeder, Mary E. (Jim) Czerniak, Andrew T. Wolff and Christy Wolff; five great-grandchildren, Shelby L. Roeder, Amber M. Roeder, Natalie J. Roeder, Macey E. Roeder and McKenna G. Roeder; and his special friend, Alice Lentz. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James A., Paul C. and John J. Wolff; and two sisters, Frances J. Wolff and Marjorie McWhorter. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
