Harry Jackson

Harry L. Jackson 84, died at 1 p.m. October 19, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 23, 1923, in Hamilton, N.D., to John and Eva Rhode Jackson, who preceded him in death. On November 8, 1947, he married Gladys J. Dickie Jackson, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Jackson was the owner and operator of the Jackson Heating and Air Conditioning Company. He was a member and served as an elder and deacon at Market Street Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, American Legion Post 96 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, all of Lima. He was also a member of the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He served in the Army from February 1, 1942, to February 1, 1945. Survivors also include two sons, John (Susan) Jackson, of Elida, Ohio, and Jeffery (Peggy) Jackson, of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Billy (Florence) Jackson, of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kenneth (Kendra) Jackson, of Lima, Ohio, Michael (Kim) Jackson, of Morrow, Jeffery A. (Laura) Jackson, of Plainfield, Illinois, Craig (Kara) Jackson, of Blacklick, and Sarah Jackson, of Lima, Ohio; two step-grandchildren, Angie Stemen, of Lima, Ohio, and Tara (Andrew) Bahnsen, of Bowling Green, Ohio; five step great-grandchildren, Christopher Walther and Kristen Walther, both of Lima, Ohio, and Jakob Bahnsen, Emma Bahnsen and Leah Bahnsen, all of Bowling Green, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Aliana Jackson and Evan Jackson, both of Lima, Ohio, Raymond Jackson, of Blacklick, and Andrew Jackson, of Plainfield, Illinois He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Jackson, Gerald Jackson, Ronald Jackson and Donald Jackson; and a grandchild, Mary Jo Jackson. Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Market Street Presbyterian Church, with military honors by VFW Post 1275. The Rev. Kerry Snyder will officiate. Following the service, the body will be cremated. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where an Elks Lodge of Sorrow will begin at 6 p.m. and an hour before services Tuesday in the church?s Williamsburg Room.
