Harry Herbert Wagner Jr., 81, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on November 29, 2023, at his home in Lima, surrounded by his family.
Herb was born on August 19, 1942, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Harry and Marjorie (Schaadt) Wagner Sr. On September 4, 1966, he married the love of his life, Charlotte A. (Main) Wagner, who survives in Lima.
Herb was a 1961 graduate of Lima Senior High and continued his education at Ohio State University in Lima. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces from 1961 to 1964. After the service he returned home to work at Harry H. Wagner & Son Inc. He was a home builder and developer of Edgewood Estate as well as building schools, fire stations and much more. Herb attended St. Mark’s Methodist Church.
Herb spent six months out of the year in Winter Haven, FL. He loved his family and friends dearly. He also loved 50/60s music, fishing, golfing, playing cards and corn hole. Herb was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was also a member of the National Home Builders Association, The Eagles, The Elks, The Moose Lodge and The American Legion.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Wagner Staschiak; son, Chad (Jamie) Wagner; four grandchildren: Jacob Hardesty, Lindsey Wagner-Staschiak, Lexi Staschiak, and Bode Wagner; nephews, John (Marie) O’Neill and Wade Moody; nieces: Natalie Mathias, Martie (Jack) Bishop, and Cindy (Cliff) Barber.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Sue O’Brien.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Rev. Ted Bible will officiate. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post #1275. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima.
