Hazel Boyed

HAZEL F. BOYED
Hazel Fawn (Archer) Boyed age 89, returned to the eternal embrace of her father in heaven on February 24, 2011. She died with the loving support of her family and friends at Springview Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 10, 1921 in Lima to Frank and Loretta (Hutchinson) Archer, She also had three sisters, Nellie Clemens, Ruth Coffee and Evelyn (Toots) Jones, and a brother Bob Archer, who have all preceded her in death.
Her life was also enriched by family she acquired thru marriage, most notably her sister-in-law Thelma O'Brien, who has passed on, and Bernice Boyed and Monyeen Boyed who still supply Hazel and her family with laughter love and family values.
On July 29, 1939 she married Ray Boyed who died in 1999 after 60 years of marriage.
Hazel retired from Kroger's Grocery. She was a member for many years of Grace United Methodist Church until its dissolution, and more recently adopted a church family at First Baptist Church. She lived her faith on a daily basis and was equally comfortable in a rowboat or a church pew with her daily communion with her Lord.
She was an avid bowler for years and more recently a designated cheerleader and spectator. He joy for life showed in her daily love of football, golf, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, flowers, birds, nature and most spectacularly as the matriarch of her adoring family.
She was a loving mother to five children, Bill Boyed who is deceased and Karen his wife who survives, Jim Boyed of Lima, Ohio, Jeannie Boyed of Lima, Ohio, Jean Prine (Lance) of Lima, Ohio, Kay Andrews (Tim) Belle Center, Ohio, Betty Pierce (Denny) of Lima, Ohio. Their lives were enriched by her love and affection.
Her legacy as a mother was surpassed only by her perfection of grandmother-hood. She was adored by 12 grandchildren: Denise Cabrerra (Mark), Jamie Davider, Caron Martin, (Elmer), Mark Boyed (Linda), Brian Boyed (Ellen), Scott Prine (Lisa), Bob Prine, Jason Andrews (Heidi), Jeff Andrews (Cindy), Julie Thomas (Mike), Andy Pierce (Dawnielle), Eric Pierce (Amy). She was also blessed with 19 great grandchildren.
The family all camped together for years at Lake Amanda and bonded eternally with the loving memories of campfire pies and conversations.
Friends are welcome to celebrate her life with her family where visitation will be Monday, February 28, from 11:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
