Helen Josephine Avery, 80, died at 5:55 a.m. Jan. 27, 2009, at her residence. She was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Delphos to William and Josephine Yochum Carder, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 6, 1945, she married Ralph E. Avery Sr., who died July 26, 2001. Mrs. Avery was a homemaker. She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple and its Friendship Circle. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed birdwatching, reading and spending time with her family. She showed strength, joy and an unwavering faith on her journey home. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. She has been called home to be with her Lord and Savior. Survivors include a son, Ralph E. (Linda) Avery Jr., of Alger; three daughters, April (Tom) Crisenbery, of Lima, Susan (Mike) Kline, of Sharonville, and Kelly Popolokies, of Findlay; two brothers, Bob Carder, of Cridersville, and Bill Carder, of Lima; a sister, Alberta Hefner, of Peoria, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Avery; and a sister, Bea Sneary. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor?s choice.
