Helen Hauth

89, of Lima, Ohio, passed away at Vancrest of Delphos on July25, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Bertha Mohler of Switzerland, her sister Mildred Wechta of Lima, her brother-in-law LaVern Wechta of Delphos, her first husband Walter Wechta, US Navy Chief  Warrant Officer, of Delphos, and her second husband Leroy Hauth of Chicago. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Arnie and Josie Mohler of Delphos and her 11 nephews and nieces.

Helen spent her early years with Walter traveling to Guam and Malta as an officer’s wife volunteering and working on base. She later married Leroy and joined him in Chicago, where they had the unique experience of owning and running a bar. During her later years, she and Leroy were long-term residents of Cape Coral, Florida where they owned a lawn mowing business.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces and their children. She had a fond love of animals and always had pets including poodles, cats, fish and parakeets. Helen’s easy-going attitude and wonderful sense of humor could put a smile on anyone’s face. Helen will be missed by her family and friends as well as all who have known her.

A viewing will be held at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with a service to follow at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Wanda Werking will officiate.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A special thanks to the nursing staff at Vancrest who passionately cared for Helen after her stroke and through her final days.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Allen County Humane Society (Ohio SPCA).
