Helen Joanne (Russell) Haws,
87 of Lima, Ohio died on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 7:55 P.M. at Baton Rouge Senior Health Facility in Lima, Ohio.
Born Monday, March 2, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy Russell and the late Belle Freda (Meldric) Russell.
Helen married Herb Haws on May 7, 1955; he preceded her in death in 1970. She graduated in 1943 from Lima Central High School and a graduate of Northwestern Business College. She worked for the government in Washington, DC, for several years before returning to Lima. In her later years she was a staff worker in the Sheriff's Department from which she retired after 13 years. She also worked at Odd Lots and was an avid bowler. She was a charter member of the Calvary Bible Church where she was in Bible memorizing, a nursery worker, choir member, and prayer warrior. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a son, Michael (Julie) Newland of Columbus, OH; two grandsons, Brien Dews of Rockford, Michigan, and Isaac Newland of Columbus; two great grandchildren, Elly and Keagan Dews of Rockford, MI; two nieces, Joyce and Carol; a nephew, Joe Maenle, all live out of state.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Haws; a sister, Betty Maenle.
A Funeral service will be at 4:00 PM on Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Hamblen officiating.
Private Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
