HELEN HUGHES, 99, died at 1:30 a.m. May 16, 2007, at Lost Creek Care Center. She was born July 12, 1907, in Allen County, Ohio to John and Julia Wagner Kares, who preceded her in death. She married Raymond Ziegenbusch, who preceded her in death. She then married Jack Hill Sr., who also preceded her in death. On November 8, 1947, she married Forrest Daniel Hughes, who died September 18, 1996. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and had retired from Clyde Evans Grocery Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Robert Ziegenbusch, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jack (LaDonna) Hill Jr., of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Julia Rose Bayes, of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Edna Kares Miller, of Charlotte, N.Carolina, and Elizabeth Johnson, of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Harmon and Bertha Miller; and a brother, John Kares. Services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
