Helen Isaac

Helen Isaac, 94, passed away at 7:34 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at her home in Lima. 

 Helen was born on May 2, 1930, in Ashcamp, Kentucky, to the late John B. and Alta D. (Fleming) Phipps. On May 27, 1946, she married the love of her life, Milliard Isaac, who preceded her in death on November 26, 2003.

 Helen was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church of Ashcamp, KY. When she moved to Lima, she then became a member of Lima Missionary Baptist. She worked at Kohler Buckeye, Nickel Name Plate, and was a sweeper at Superior Coach/Sheller Globe/Accubuilt, where she retired. After she retired, she worked at Elida Elementary School as a custodian. Helen also babysat children, cleaned homes, and catered parties for some doctors in town. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, friends and neighbors. Helen was an avid WWE fan for 75+ years. 

 She is survived by her loving daughter, Marylou Rhodes; grandchildren, Robert A. Rhodes II and DeWayne Rhodes; great-grandchildren: Jason, Kaitlan, Blake (Marissa), Rebecca, and Deborah; great-great-grandchildren: Anya, Isley, Damian, Saphira, Rayna Rhodes and one on the way; and brothers, John (Virginia) Phipps and Roy Phipps.

 In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Robert Rhodes, granddaughter-in-law Laura Rhodes, sisters: Beunos (Walter) Watson, Ruby Ratliff and Mary Ruth Phipps; and brothers, Fitchue James Phipps and Ray Phipps and sister-in-law Donna Phipps.

 The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Lima Missionary Baptist Church with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Terry Brock will officiate. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Food Pantry.
