Helen M. Tullis, 88, died at 10:25 p.m. June 4, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Lima to Ralph and LaVine Pond Whitehead, who preceded her in death. She married Richard Gavin, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 2, 1961, she married Raymond "Ray" Tullis, who died Oct. 1, 1968. Mrs. Tullis was a member of Westside United Methodist Church. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and American Legion Post 96 Auxiliary. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Barbara Tullis McCormack, of Columbus, and Carol Tullis Covington, of Glendora, Calif.; five grandchildren, Kathy (Robert) Greber, of Spencerville, Rachel Covington, of Seattle, Michael McCormack, of Westerville, John "Johnny" (Michelle) Luellen of Alger, and David Luellen, of Glendora, Calif.; a niece, Claire "Dee" (Rick) Davis, of Redding, Calif.; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepbrother, John "Bud" Shope; and a brother, Ralph Whitehead Jr. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Cronk will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
