Helena J. DeMarco, 85, died at 4:15 p.m. December 8, 2010, at her residence. She was born April 13, 1925, in Lima, Ohio to Paul and Virginia Mascellaro Shortino, who preceded her in death. Mrs. DeMarco was a graduate of St. John?s High School, Lima, Ohio. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and its choir. She was a nursing home volunteer and loved traveling and music. She had been a sales lady at Kmart for 24 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons, Frank J. (Joan) DeMarco, of Toledo, Ohio, and Paul DeMarco, of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Marie (Steve) Cira, of Chelsea, Michigan, and Virginia Ann (Jim) Hankle, of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Nicholas DeMarco, Matthew DeMarco, Zachary Hankle and Luke Hankle. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Shortino. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Joseph Sekeres will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
