Henry "Hank" Boraten

Henry E. "Hank" Boraten, age 83, of Lima, Ohio died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on Thursday, August 2, 1928 in Braddock, Pennsylvania, to Michael Boraten and Anna (Furtek) Boraten, who both preceded him in death. On August 27, 1949, he married Vera Seneta Boraten in Erie, PA and she survives in Lima.

Mr. Boraten retired from Ford Motor Company's Lima Engine Plant as a Supervisor of Maintenance for over 42 years. He was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Lima, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima and was a past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council #2661, Lima. He proudly served in the United States Navy from November 1945 until May 1946 and obtained the rank of Fireman Second Class. Hank loved the outdoors, whether it be in his woods in Lima or the mountains in Pennsylvania. He was a very devoted husband and father who loved playing cards and spending time with good friends.

Surviving are a son, Bernard E. (Jeannette) Boraten of LibertyTwp., OH, three daughters, Patricia "Chic" (Todd) Garlock of Jenera, OH, Rhonda (Chuck Wallace) Hawk of Lima, OH and Bonnie Brenek of Lima, OH. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Tara (Mike) Iriti-Sanders, Nino Iriti, Mike Iriti, Kayla Hawk, Adam Hawk, Travis Boraten, Cory Boraten, Austin Boraten, Tanner Brenek, Haylee Brenek, ten great grandchildren: Lily, Anthony, Lucy, Heather, Shawna, Cody, Summer, Steven, Stori, Hunter and two great great grandchildren Jayden and Gianna.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Boraten and three sisters, Jenny Lechefsky, Mary Adams and Helen Knecht.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Lima with the Father James Szobonya officiating. Entombment will occur at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima, OH with military services conducted by V.F.W. Post 1275.
