Henry J. ?Hank? Nerderman, 87, died at 4 a.m. December 7, 2008, at his residence. He was born April 8, 1921, in Carthagena to John and Rosa Fox Nerderman, who preceded him in death. On May 23, 1942, he married Marcella ?Jean? Gass, who survives in Lima. Mr. Nerderman worked at Davis Enamel for 18 years, and then retired from Teledyne after 15 years. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, and American Legion Post 191, Spencerville. He was in the Hall of Fame at St. Gerard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Dec. 28, 1942, to Sept. 15, 1943. He loved fishing, playing cards and his family. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (Charles) Bowen, Sharon Smith and Carol Zapp, all of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Lori Neff, April McCarthy, James Mason, Kelly Good, Kevin Smith, Sherry Yant, William Smith and Andrew Szosz; and 13 greatgrandchildren and three greatgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Gary Smith and James Mason; two grandchildren, John Smith and Debra Mason; and three brothers, Joseph Nerderman, Leo Nerderman and William Nerderman. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gerald Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 191, Spencerville.
